run

I laced my Nikes & headed for the tracks.
Wanting to reach my goal & meet the mark.
I stepped on & gasped as the chill of apprehension hits my being.
Seeing the pouring rain beyond this stained glass windows,
I sense doubts hovering as I look upon my carnal limitations.
Yet all I wanted to do is run.

I used to run as my momentary escape from reality.
I'd placed ‘darkness’ at the end of the track & ran away from it.

But as I step on the track today,
I am not running away.
I am not wanting to escape.
I will not yield.
I am running forward.
Running towards what is yet to come.
Training.
Hoping that I’ll be ready for that which lies ahead.
Strong enough to make it count!
